Wiseco Gasket Kit
If your quad is old and tired, maybe it’s time to replace the rings and piston of the old machine. Though there are many choices offered by Wiseco, I am going to talk today about piston and gasket kit. Keeping in mind that Wiseco is a reputed company making many engine parts, I decided to go for Wiseco.
I got the cylinder bored according to the specifications, and installed the top end gasket kit. This kit has all the equipments that would be required to build the complete upper engine. Installation is pretty time consuming, but it certainly is not difficult.
After the replacement, you will feel your quad rev up pretty fast. Replacing your gasket will make your engine run faster, and you have more control.
If you have not heard this before: you should not mix the oil inject with gas. Also, you need to rev your motor, or else it will get carbon formation all over your engine.
With time, the rings tend to wear out with all the carbon depositing on them. So you need to clean them up to lower the carbon formation. This does not take a lot of time, and if you could do this every 2 months- it would be enough.
Installation is easy and complete instructions are provided with the kit. It takes a little extra time, but there is nothing complicated in it.
Kenda Bear Claw
Sometimes we all want a little extra control and traction when it comes to our quads. Since my riding is mostly on hilly areas these days, I wanted tires that have a strong grip- with 12 inch rims. I opted for Kenda Bear tires. I chose the 299 Claw, with 26X12X12 rear and 26X9X12 front.
Once I installed them, I instantly noted a difference in its traction and stability. I felt more power and control over my quad. This certainly gave me a lot of confidence, so I would recommend it to both experienced and novice riders. Though these tires are a bit heavy, but they lower the center of gravity, so the extra weight goes unnoticed. The grooves on these tires are shaped in such a way that you won’t have mud stuck up in them. This makes your ride easier and there are fewer risks of skidding.
Another characteristic of these tires are that they are pretty quiet. They don’t go making a lot of noise. Though tires are not usually known for making noise, but when you will use them, you will understand what I am talking about.
Since these tires don’t wear out easily, they have a long life- which saves you a lot of money. The rim and tire combination of these Kenda Bear Claws is great, and it is a great way to enhance your quad without any hard expenses. These tires will last you years, and you would still feel that they are good as new.
Black Rhino Performance CDI
I am always looking for something to improve my ATVs in terms of power and speed. When it comes to ATVs, faster is better. Since I have an old Yamaha Rhino that wasn’t giving much of performance, I tried to give a push to its energy meter.
If you have a Yamaha Rhino, then you know that it comes with a rev limiter- this pretty much cuts off the entire speed and you can only go up to about 35 MPH- not exactly a wild speed. I was looking for something to boost up the power, and so I wanted to replace the factory made CDI box with something better. I knew that Black Rhino Performance manufactures CDI boxes, so I got one.
I got stage II CDI, and installed it right away. Installation was pretty simple- it came with complete instructions. You can find the factory made CDI box inside the battery box. You can remove the nuts and bolts and take it out. Now insert your new CDI box there, and you are good to go. With the right tools, it hardly takes 15 minutes.
After this, I started my Rhino, and it was an easy start. Apart from that, the idling was also smoother. The ride was also much better and much powerful. This small little box surely gave a completely new feel to my old ATV. I sped up to 50 MPH, and it was a piece of cake! At the end, I would say that it is certainly worth your money.
Skat Trak Extreme Hauler
So you have taken your quad to different trails- snow, mud, water- but have you ever taken it to sand? Riding on sand dunes is a lot of fun and a different kind of experience. But wait, before you take your ATV to sand, you must have the proper gear. Do you think your average ATV tires would work fine on sand dunes? No they won’t. If you want proper control of your ATV on sand, you must get special tires- those that can roll over sand without slipping.
If you are interested, Skat Trak tires can help you out a lot. Extreme Haulers are paddle tires that would perform well on sand. I have tried paddle tires earlier, but they were quite heavy, and did not offer a very good performance. With composite paddle tires from Skat Trak, you can now get the kind of control you were looking for.
You can actually select the shape and size of the paddle you want. You can also pick the number of paddles you want on your tires. This is the best part- these tires are completely customized. You can just give them a call and tell them about the ATV that you own, and they will design a tire- just for you!!
Now the problem is- how to decide on the number, shape and size of the paddles that you want. If you have no idea, you can simply tell them, and they will suggest the kind of tires that would suit your requirements.
Rox Hand guards
If you have a quad, then hand guards are a must. We often pay attention to other parts, but forget about the protection of our hands. It is very important to get hand guards. Why? They do not just provide protection- they look cool too! You can easily see many ATV freaks having hand guards on their machines.
You can try getting hand guards from Rox Speed FX. I have their hand guards, and I have been using the same ones from more than a year now. They come with perch mounting system. Made of aluminum, this system is lightweight and highly durable. And of course, these hand guards look awesome as well. The chief advantage of perch mounting system is that it is extremely easy to install- all you need is one set screw. It is a revolutionary idea to mount various accessories.
The hand guards themselves are made from very strong and tough plastic. To install them, you have to attach the perch mounting system with hand guards using the supplied hardware. Mounting the perch system is then a piece of cake. After you have completely installed them, you can make adjustments easily, so that they provide the max comfort and safety to your hands. These hand guards can run for thousands of miles, and would still look as good as new.
Gristle Boyz Bumper
If your front bumper is worn out, and you are looking to buy another one, you should try the Gristle Boyz bumper. Gristle Boys Inc is a company that makes high quality products for Renegrade and Outlander series. Since they provide superior quality stuff, they have become famous in a short time. I tried the front bumper by Grislte Boyz and found it to be excellent. When the package arrived, I had a good fist impression. It is heavy, but still small in size- so the weight shouldn’t be much of a concern given its size. The pieces have been joined perfectly with proper welding.
The end caps are also beautifully welded, and the entire structure looks great. The complete structure is powder coated with black, and gives a tough finish.
The package also comes with an aluminum hawse. It can be used with a winch rope, and makes the bumper look even more stylish. It has a nice contrast to match the color of bumper. Engineered excellently, it gives an even better appearance to your ATV.
Installing this device is pretty easy. You need to take out 6 bolts of stock bumper. Once they are removed, you can take off the aluminum bracket. Then you can easily put on your new bumper. The entire process takes about 20-30 minutes.
Once you have installed them, you will find yourself having a complete new ATV, because it enhances the looks of your machine.
PIAA ATP 510 Lights
When you ride your ATV in the dark, it is then when you realize that you must improve upon the lighting system. The lights that come with your ATV are not sufficient to help you out during dark times. If you want to improve your visibility to aid you during night, buy some extra ATV lights.
PIAA provides top quality lights for quads, bikes and cars. The 510 ATP series from PIAA will solve your night vision problems. They have strict corrosion standards that they follow for all their models, and thus produce highly durable products. The housing of these bulbs is thin and compact and can be attached to any part of you ATV. The ATP (All Terrain Product) is specifically suited for ATVs, so if you were waiting to buy lights for your quad, these will come just perfect.
These lights provide longer and wider beam pattern, thus making them ideal for various uses. You can even go off road- thanks to the bright lights.
This light kit is definitely worth your money. The cases of these lights are strong and made from stamped steal. Though most other products come with cheap plastic lenses, these lights come with good quality glass lenses- certainly a relief, because plastic ones burn out real quick and cannot handle bright light.
When you buy them, you can immediately realize they are a PIAA product, because of their quality. They come with 2 separate mounting brackets to help you put up the lights. There are many ways you can mount them, and it depends upon the model of your quad. You can also try mounting them at various places and then see which one you like the best.
Slime Air Compressor
Though we buy toughest tires for our ATVs, but they all need air to keep going. During tough riding, tires can easily lose air. Since this can happen anywhere, you must always be ready to pump some energy into them. With Slime air compressor, now you can easily put life back into your tires. With less than 5 inches of height, you can carry this kit easily in your tool box, or quad bag- and still have a lot of space left over.
It comes with leads for permanent battery, along with a power port adapter, alligator clips, and a quick connect plug. You can plug the power adapter into just about any 12 V power source.
Apart from that, all the equipment comes in a water proof kit, so you don’t have to worry about its safety as you go through rivers. The special case is also shock resistant, so you can fly with your ATV, and land with a thud- it won’t affect the equipment.
Connections are pretty simple, and since it is very small and handy, it should find a permanent place in your ATV. It also comes with a tire gauge that helps you find the air pressure in your ATV tires.
It has 3 forms of wiring-
1. Power cable to plug into 12 V power supply
2. Cable with alligator clips to connect to battery terminals
3. Direct cables to the battery
2011 Yamaha Grizzly EPS 450
Utility quads of the 450 category are easy to handle, and light weighted. But don’t be mistaken- they are also very lithe and user friendly. Since Yamaha riders always want power steering, this quad comes with one.
The 2011 version of Yamaha Grizzly also comes with EPS.
This new system is sensitive to speed, so it provides more help during low speed actions, than during high speed actions. So if you are looking for an ATV that offers control during slower speeds, this is the perfect one for you.
That is not the only advantage of the EPS system. It is also an excellent steering damper. If you are riding through rough trails with tight spots, then the EPS will come really handy.
It is easy to shift a Grizzly. There is a hand lever near the left knee of the rider that offers modes like park, reverse, neutral, low and high. Using the reverse/park mode needs rear brake pedals, but the other modes can be used without much work.
It has an electric start, so it is easy to use. It also comes with a choke just in case you need it.
With the sealed wet brake and one piece chassis, you can’t ask for more. Once you get on this quad, you will immediately feel the difference with its steel frame. It is a single piece frame and is not welded at places. Since there are no washers, spacers, and bolts in the frame, the price is also lowered.
Engine breaking is another notable feature of this quad, and it is sure to be a hit in the coming year. Something about the looks: you will instantly fall in love with it. Just visit your nearest store, and have a look.
Nova Plastic Gloss
ATVs aren’t your fancy cars that stand in garages and not get dirty. These are mean machines that travel through snow and sand, mud and water, and getting dirty is what they are made for.
This is the reason why cleaning them is a difficult thing to do. Though there are many shine formulas available in the market, but there are not many that are made just for rough machines like ATVs.
Now with Nova Plastic Gloss, you can add a new finish to your quad bike. It is named Plastic Gloss, because once you apply it, it behaves like Teflon. You can remove the dirt by spraying water on your quad, but it shows minor scratches, and it is far from what it looked like when it was new.
You can spray a bit of Plastic Gloss and wipe with a clean cloth and notice the finish. Even if your quad is an old one, it will shine like it is coming right from an ATV showroom. This fluid not only makes your ATV look good, but also protects it from harsh weather conditions, dirt and dust.
It takes care of the plastic of your quad so that it can sustain more wear and tear. So next time you go on a snowy trail, you do not have to worry about the safety of your ATV, with protection from Plastic Gloss. Also, it will keep your machine looking new and fresh. You can use it regularly to keep your quad sparkling clean.
